Edinson Cavani rejects move to Man United & Chelsea

Manchester United and Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani, who now looks set to stay with the Ligue 1 side.

The Uruguayan striker has been in red hot form this season in Ligue 1 but his relationship with Laurent Blanc and a number of team-mates at Parc des Princes was reported to have deteriorated in recent months.

Those reports led to a whole host of European and Premier League sides to show interest with United and Chelsea leading the way from England.

The former have been extremely interested and sent a delegation of officials to the French capital earlier this month to enquire about the availability of the striker, however, it now seems that Cavani has chosen to stay one more year with the club.

Promises over a change of position, allowing him to play a more central role have been made, leaving Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at the club in doubt.

The Swedish striker has been under increasing pressure of late after an outburst following a game earlier this year when he made derogatory remarks about France.

Chelsea have also been linked to the former Inter Milan striker, with whom Jose Mourinho has worked with before.
