Real Madrid unlikely to cement Sterling interest

Raheem-Sterling-England

Real Madrid are unlikely to follow up their interest in Liverpool and England winger Raheem Sterling, despite several reports in England.

A report across various English national papers cited Madrid with having an interest in the Merseyside based winger, claiming that officials from the club had been tracking his performances for both club and country this summer.

Further statements regarding a possible £25m bid which would be made due to the growing concerns over Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury problems – were made.

However, Football Express News understands that the Spanish giants have their interest elsewhere, being linked to Monaco’s James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao.

It is understood that the latter has already agreed terms to join the European champions ahead of next season but final details are being discussed between super agent Jorge Mendes, Madrid and the Ligue 1 side.

We spoke to a source close to Madrid about their constant links to Premier League players and he discussed how boss Carlo Ancelotti has no big concerns over the fitness of Ronaldo and that developments are already being made over the signing of Falcao.

“Madrid will always have links to players from England after signing the likes of [Gareth] Bale and [David] Beckham in recent seasons, but they have other targets first – such as Falcao, who is all-but a Madrid player.”
