Van Gaal to lure German World Cup winner to Old Trafford

Louis van Gaal is keen to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer, according to Kicker.

Talks over a new contract for the German International have slowed down between Bayern and the midfielder, subsequently alerting a number of European clubs to show interest.

The 30-year-old has been at Bayern Munich since 2002, and has accumulated over 325 appearances for the German giants, and it’d certainly be a significant change in his life if he were to move to the Premier League.

Manchester United have been the most frequently reported club to show interest with former Bayern boss Louis van Gaal keen to sign the World Cup winning midfielder.

Schweinsteiger is expected to leave the Allianz Arena this summer as boss Pep Guardiola looks set to bring in a number of new faces to freshen up a side that has faltered in the Champions League this season.

Chelsea have also been interested, but it is understood Jose Mourinho is keen to push for other transfer targets.
