Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is close to a move to Inter Milan, according to Javier Zanetti.

The Ivory Coast international has been a key figure in City’s recent successes since joining them from Catalan giants Barcelona, but came close to departing the club last summer after reportedly being unhappy following a number of off-field incidents.

Toure, has once again been linked with an exit after further claims he is unhappy at the Etihad stadium and Italian side Inter have made significant moves to complete a deal.

And in an interview with Tuttosport, Zanetti said: “We have arrived at the stage where we hope that we can close the deal. With him and Thiago Motta, Inter would be a complete team.

“Thiago Motta can give us so much. He knows the environment, has a great personality and is one of the best midfielders with whom I played.

“He’s very clever. Depending on the moment, he can speed up and slow down the game. And, when his team is in trouble, he takes the ball and does the best thing possible with it.

“People with these qualities make you take the leap.”
