Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has said he expects Nicolas Otamendi to leave Valencia and join Manchester United this summer.
United have been keen on the defender for some-time and have made initial contact with the Spanish club.
The 27-year-old joined Valencia from Porto last summer and has been one of the standout centre-backs in La Liga this season.
Valencia sporting director Rufete last week claimed he wanted the defender to remain at the Mestalla but Balague believes that Man United’s constant interest is making the situation hard.
“On Otamendi. Sources close to the player say his dream is to go to the PL and United will continue trying to get him. Valencia pessimistic,” Balague tweeted.
Otamendi is contracted to Valencia until 2019.
