Manchester United will make a summer move for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller, according to The Independent.

The World Cup winner has been in superb form again this season, following on from his goalscoring exploits at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil which helped Germany win the tournament.

The forward has been linked with Manchester United over a number of years, but has always reiterated his desire to remain with the Bundesliga champions.

Reports earlier this year claimed that officials from Bayern had rejected a bid from United for the attacker, but the Premier League side are keen to push through another attempt this summer.

United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to work with Muller once more and is ready to offer a £40m transfer fee, which the Dutch coach believes will tempt Pep Guardiola into selling the goalscorer.

Muller’s contract with the Bundesliga champions expires in 2019.
