Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has told Manchester United and Chelsea that he wishes to remain at the Spanish club next season.

The Spanish international has a £44m release clause in his contract with the Spanish champions and it is reported that Chelsea and United have both made tentative talks with the Madrid club about a potential summer move.

Officials at the club in Spain are understood to be unwilling to sell and have offered the midfielder a new contract which would increase that buy-out clause to £100m, and the Spanish international has rubbished such reports in a latest interview.

“Yes, I will play here,” he told AS when asked about his future.

Atletico Madrid are currently sat in third in the La Liga, also looking set to have another campaign in the ChampionsLeague next season and Koke was asked to rate their season out of ten so far.

“I’d give out season a nine out of ten if we finish third,” he said.

“We got to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. And if we finish third we will have achieved our goals. And we will finish third.”
