Manchester United are willing to allow David De Gea to join Real Madrid in order to capture Gareth Bale, according to Daily Express.

Spanish keeper De Gea has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid throughout the year and those talks have now begun to progress even further following the La Liga club’s exit in the Champions League to Juventus on Wednesday.

Iker Casillas is thought to be on his last legs at the club after a number of errors in recent seasons, and De Gea is the ‘only’ option to replace the Spanish number one.

Man United have been hard in their stance on De Gea in recent months, however, that position could now change after Madrid informed suitors that Gareth Bale would be available for £80m this summer.

Welsh winger Bale has faltered at Madrid this season and has been on the end of a fan backlash after a number of subdued performances, heightened following the defeat to Juventus.

United are now considering a move for Bale, which could include De Gea, something they had not thought about before, but are keen to do following this week’s events.
