Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony has issued a plea to Yaya Toure in an attempt to persuade his Ivorian teammate to stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Recent reports suggest that Toure is ‘90% certain’ to leave the Manchester club, according to his agent Dimitri Seluk.

However, Bony, who signed for City from Swansea in January, is hopeful he can persuade Toure to stay at the club. The striker said;

“I talk to him about it all the time. He knows what I think. He brought me here so he needs to stay.

“He told me about this being a big club, how we were the champions. We hope he stays, he’s a big player here and we know everything he is doing for the club.”

Yaya Toure has been at the Etihad Stadium since signing from Barcelona for a £24m fee in 2010. The Ivory Coast skipper has had a successful career in England – winning two Premier League titles and becoming a fans’ favourite.
