Chelsea are in pole position to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, but Jose Mourinho will be forced to sell both Oscar and Ramires in order to raise the Spaniard’s £44m fee.

According to various reports in the Spanish capital, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has his heart set on signing the impressive midfielder after watching his performances for at the Vicente Calderon this season.

The Spanish international has a £44m release clause in his contract with the Spanish champions and it is reported that Chelsea will attempt to soften the figure by offering former Atleti defender Filipe Luis in return.

Luis has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League this season and is keen on a move back to Spain.

However, despite Chelsea’s plans to lower the fee, it is understood that the Premier League champions will need to sell before they make the move and that leaves Oscar and Ramires looking for a new club.

Italian side Juventus have been interested in signing the duo, whilst Paris Saint Germain have been keen on Oscar for some-time.

Koke, who has been at Atletico for 15-years, is happy to remain with Diego Simeone’s side but Chelsea are confident they can tempt him with a lucrative contract offer.
