Manchester City are preparing a £53m move for Bundesliga duo Roberto Firmino and Kevin De Bruyne, according to Daily Star.

After a dismal season for City which has seen them falter in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups, the club’s hierarchy are ready to sell a number of players and fund the summer signings of some new faces.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to be sacked and his replacement is expected to be given the services of strike duo Roberto Firmino and former Chelsea forward Kevin De Bruyne.

The latter failed to earn a regular starting place at Stamford Bridge during his two-year spell at the club, but has since gone on to become one of the most in-form players in the Bundesliga, helping Wolfsburg to a good league and Europa League campaign.

His performances have gained interest from a number of top European clubs, but City are said to have made good ground in their pursuit of the Belgian international.

Meanwhile, Brazilian playmaker Firmino is expected to move to England, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool interested.
