Manchester United have completed the signing of Southampton full-back Luke Shaw after he completed a medical on Friday morning.
The English defender returned from international duty with England on Thursday and jetted straight into Manchester, where he stayed in a hotel and visited Old Trafford, the club’s training ground and underwent a medical on Friday morning.
Following that, Shaw will now stay in the English city tonight and have photographs and hold a press conference on Saturday, signing a reported £160k per week contract.
The former Southampton man is said to have agreed terms to join United back in April, but trouble over a transfer fee continued until late on Thursday evening, resulting in both sides agreeing a fee in excess of £30m.
The 18-year-old will join as a replacement for French full-back Patrice Evra and form a new look defence which new boss Louis van Gaal is currently preparing.
Shaw follows Thursday’s signing of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera into Old Trafford, whilst moves for Mats Hummels and Arturo Vidal are being reported.
