Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is ready to beat Arsenal in their interest of Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, Football Express News understands.

The 23-year-old Dutchman has been strongly linked with a move to a number of Premier League sides after impressing both in the Scottish Premier League and the Europa League for Celtic.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have all been linked in recent weeks, but it is understood that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to make a summer move after sending scouts to watch the versatile defender in action.

It is being reported by a number of Scottish press outlets that the Saints will submit a £10m bid, which they believe will tempt Celtic in to parting ways with the former Groningen defender.

Van Dijk moved to Scotland in 2013 and has since helped Celtic to back-t0-back Scottish Premier League titles.

He is yet to be capped by the Dutch national side, but has featured three appearances for the U21 side.
