Football Express News understands that Manchester United will follow up their recent transfer activity with a bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, following the World Cup in Brazil.

A dismal season under the guidance of David Moyes saw Manchester United fail to qualify for the Champions League and sack the Scottish boss, resulting in the appointment of Dutch boss Louis van Gaal.

Van Gaal is currently in charge of the Dutch national side at the World Cup in Brazil but his work to bring in new and improved quality to Old Trafford is already developing, with Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera having put pen-to-paper this week.

No other business is thought to be made by United until after the World Cup now, with Van Gaal determined to arrive in England with plans to sign several more established European targets.

And, Football Express News understands that German defender Mats Hummels will be one of those, with a bid already outlined.

Hummels is currently on international duty with Germany in Brazil, but his future with Dortmund has been heavily discussed in recent weeks, prompting the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United to show heavy interest.
