Southampton and England left-back Luke Shaw has completed his medical at Manchester United and will be announced as their new signing in the next 48 hours.
Shaw, 18, is set to be Man United’s second acquisition of the week following the announcement earlier today that their move for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera is due to complete, subject to receipt of International Transfer Certificate.
The deal for Southampton’s home-grown left back is worth in the region of £30M, a record fee for the south coast club and one that is likely to see others such as Adam Lallana leave the club.
Shaw arrived in Manchester yesterday with the England squad following their failed World Cup campaign and is now ready to sign on the dotted line for United, having agreed terms in principle back in April.
Dutch boss Louis van Gaal will move on to other targets once his services have ended with the Dutch national side this summer, with some reports stating that he will make a move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
