Southampton have been handed a huge boost as defender Nathaniel Clyne confirms he’s happy to stay at the club.

Clyne, who’s contract expires in 2016, has been heavily linked with a move away from St Mary’s – with Manchester United being the favourites to secure his signature. However, it looks as though the England international is happy and wants to stay with the Saints.

The 24-year-old has told the Daily Echo: “I’m enjoying my football for Southampton, playing week-in, week-out and it’s an up-and-coming club, so, yeah, I’m happy playing for Southampton and happy to stay at Southampton as well.”

The ex-Crystal Palace man has enjoyed a very successful time at St Mary’s – which has included being called up to the England senior squad earlier this season.

Ronald Koeman’s side, who were tipped to struggle this term, are looking to finish the season off strong, as they currently sit seventh in the Premier League table with just three games remaining.
