Manchester United are worried that their summer move for Mats Hummels will be halted by Borussia Dortmund, according to Manchester Evening News.

Various reports across England and Germany have claimed this year that the German World Cup winner had agreed a deal in principle with United in January.

Whilst those rumours are yet to be confirmed, the centre-back has been forced to discuss his future on a number of occasions in the past couple of months, saying in March that he was ‘fed up with talk of a summer move’.

Talk continues to gain pace and with Dortmund’s poor domestic season playing it’s part, many had tipped the former Bayern Munich youngster to cement his move to Old Trafford.

However, conflicting reports have now claimed that he could remain with the Bundesliga side, despite coach Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave this summer.

New incoming coach Thomas Tuchel wants Hummels to captain the side and spearhead them back to the top of the German league and push rivals Bayern for the title.

Plus, Ilkay Gundogan’s decision not to renew his current deal at Signal Iduna Park has seen the club push to keep hold of one of their top players.
