Belgium sealed top spot in Group H after beating Korea Republic, whilst Algeria caused an upset and beat Russia to qualify.

Belgium had already sealed their qualification into the Round of 16 but they were determined to end Group H with a 100% record and they did so by beating Korea Republic 1-0.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen was the man who sealed the points for the European side, after he profited from Divock Origi’s good effort that was saved by Kim Seung-Gyu. Marc Wilmots’ side will now face USA in the next round but they will have to do so without Steven Defour, who was sent off.

Meanwhile, Algeria and Russia battled it out for the final place in the next round and it proved to be the Africans who held on to join Belgium.

Alexander Kokorin opened the scoring for the Russian side but a controversial free-kick was tapped in by Islam Slimani.

The Russians felt incensed with the decision to allow the goal to stand after keeper Igor Akinfeev had a laser from the crowd pointed at him, but the referee waved away protests and the result remained at 1-1, leaving Algeria to face Germany in the next round.
