Manchester City are ready to make a £55m move for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling, according to Sunday People.

The England international is currently stalling on a new contract with the Merseyside club as holds for a better financial package and awaits developments in interest from linked clubs.

La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid have been interested, although the former are banned from making transfers until January 2016 and the latter have identified other transfer targets for the summer.

Man City, however, remain keen, and could be ready to make a summer move, with a bid in the region of £55m planned.

This follows their exit from the Champions League and some rather subdued performances from the likes of Samir Nasri and David Silva.

Whilst Manuel Pellegrini is unlikely to remain at the Etihad stadium next season; it is understood that bosses are keen to snap up Sterling and begin a restructure.
