Liverpool have offered Martin Skrtel a new and improved three-year deal to remain at Anfield past next summer.
The 30-year-old central defender will end his eighth season at Anfield this summer and is edging closer to the end of his current deal, which will expire next summer.
Various reports in German press have claimed that big spending Wolfsburg are keen to make a cut-price summer move as they look to build a squad capable of pushing Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.
Skrtel is said to have been in discussions over a new deal at Anfield since the turn of the year and it is believed that a bumper three-year deal has been offered, but interest from the German side is now tempting the defender to think twice.
The Slovakian international has also been linked with a move to Italian side Napoli.
