Juventus close in on Real deal

Morata

Juventus have ramped up their efforts to seal the signature of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

Corriere della Sera claims representatives from the two clubs will thrash out the deal next week, with the Turin giants paying a £1.5million loan fee with a view to a permanent £16m transfer.

However, the report reveals that European Cup holders Real are determined to protect themselves and have insisted that the final exchange could be in the region of £20m if Morata proves to be a success in Serie A.

Juventus are reportedly willing to accept the terms, while the player is said to have snubbed a late contract offer from the La Liga heavyweights which would have seen him remain in Spain.

Morata scored nine goals in 28 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side during the 2013-14 campaign, many of which came from the substitutes’ bench.

He regularly found himself battling for a place in the starting line-up with the likes of star-studded internationals Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Jese.

At Juventus he will compete with former Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez and compatriot Fernando Llorente, but head coach Antonio Conte is expected to give him more game time than Real have been able to offer.
