Saints boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Nathaniel Clyne must decide “in the next 10 days” if he wants to remain at Southampton for the long term.

Clyne has been heavily linked with the Premier League’s top clubs, after enjoying an extremely fruitful last couple of seasons at St Mary’s. The ex-Crystal Palace defender, who recently became a senior England international, has been given 10 days to decide his Southampton future.

“We are still speaking with Clyney and his agent, but we have to know it in 10 days now,” Koeman said. “The club is doing and offering the maximum we can do, then we expect the decision of the player.

“I have spoken to Clyney. He is very happy. Maybe there is some interest, I don’t know because nobody has really had a bid for the player, but if I read the press then maybe there is some interest.”

Southampton, who lost a whole host of their first team players last summer, have been the Premier League’s surprise package this season – as they sit seventh in the league table with just four games remaining.
