Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expecting to make some big-name signings in the summer – in the hope to see Champions League football returning to Anfield as soon as possible.
“We’ll be looking to strengthen the squad,” said the Northern Irishman in his pre-match press conference today. Naturally, come the end of the season you want to look to improve the squad.
“What I have said is that we have been short on goals this year. We have to work out in the summer what is going to help improve our squad.”
Liverpool, who pushed Manchester City so close to the Premier League title last year, have endured a disappointing campaign this term. The Reds are set to miss out on a top four spot, after failing to recover form a poor start to the season. Rodgers side sit in fifth place in the league table, seven points off Manchester United who are fourth.
