United duo set for new contracts

Manchester United’s Phil Jones and Ashley Young are set to sign new deals at Old Trafford, according to reports in the Express.

Both players have excelled under new United boss Louis van Gaal this season, and they are both now set to be rewarded with new deals.

Defender Jones arrived at Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers in a £16.5m deal in 2011. The 23-year-old has made 91 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

And Young, who made the £17m switch from Aston Villa, also in 2011, has stacked up 86 Premier League games, and has found himself as a first team favourite of Van Gaal’s.

Jones and Young have both played a pivotal part in United’s Champions League qualification push, and are now being rewarded with new deals.

Manchester United are on course to return to the Champions League after a year out, and Van Gaal is expected to sign big in the summer.
