According to reports in the Manchester Evening News, if Manchester United want to sign target Edinson Cavani, they have been told by Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi that it will take a huge offer.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Uruguayan hitman, but Louis van Gaal has been told in no uncertain terms that United will have to splash the cash for his services.

Al Khelaifi told French newspaper Le Parisien; “I have not held talks with Cavani over his future. He is a young player and is the future of PSG. A €50m offer from Manchester United? I would not even look at such a bid.”

He added; “Edinson needs a bit more confidence, but his last game against Lille, in which he scored twice, was further proof of his talent.”

With Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Radamel Falcao all facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford, could Van Gaal be persuaded to stump up the cash for Cavani?
