Manchester City forward Alvaro Negredo has hinted at making a move to Valencia permanently, despite two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.

The Spanish striker played a big role in City’s 2013-14 Premier League title triumph. But after being deemed surplus to requirements by Manuel Pellegrini, and with the new arrival of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City in January, Negredo looks to have played his last game in a City shirt.

The 29-year-old scored 23 times in 48 appearances in his debut season for the Citizens – helping the Manchester club to a Capital One Cup and Premier League double.

Since returning to Spain with Valencia in September, Negredo has only found the net on five occasions in 25 La Liga outings. Despite that, the ex-Almeria and Sevilla striker wants to stay at the Mestalla and finish his career there.

Speaking to Valencia’s official website after netting in his side’s 4-0 win over Granada, he said: “Hopefully I can finish my career here. I am comfortable and happy, I deny all the rumours and I say that I am going to stay at Valencia.”
