Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski, who has been on loan at Italian side Inter Milan since January, wants to return to the Emirates in the summer.
The 29-year-old struggled to find a place in Arsene Wenger’s side at the beginning of the season and was subsequently loaned out for the remainder of the campaign. However, after finding life difficult in Serie A since making the January switch, the forward wants to return to Arsenal and prove a point.
Podolski failed to score in 12 league games for Inter – making just eight starts in the process.
Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini spoke out on Podolski’s future, he said; “Not everything can be done quickly, especially when moving from one country to another, from one club to another.
“The same applies to Podolski who I consider a great player and a great professional. That situation is a little different though, because he is on loan and wants to return to Arsenal.”
The German International has made 60 Premier League appearances for the Gunners since securing an £11m move from Cologne in July 2012.
With Wenger’s superb array of attacking talent already at his disposal, Podolski’s days in an Arsenal shirt could be all but over.
