Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has rubbished reports that Ilkay Gundogan has agreed to join Manchester United.

Reports on Friday afternoon claimed that the German midfielder had agreed terms to a £21.5m deal to join the Premier League side, however, Watze has admitted that although Dortmund would consider a sale, talks of a completed deal to United is false.

“With Manchester United there is zero contact,” he told Sky Deutschland on Saturday.

He added: “If Ilkay tells us he doesn’t want to extend, then we’ll sit down and discuss it. But that hasn’t happened yet.

“The media has to be careful. I’m not trying to be rude, but they can’t jump on everything they hear like they did yesterday.”

Dortmund have been forced to deny claims this season about a number of player exits with Gundogan becoming the second to be linked with United after central defender Mats Hummels.
