Tottenham Hotspur will be forced to pay Emmanuel Adebayor the remainder of his contract, should he leave the club this summer.

Former Manchester City and Arsenal striker has fallen out of favour under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, with both club and player thought to be looking for him to leave White Hart Lane.

Adebayor’s substantial wages have so far prevented any potential suitors from making an offer, but straying away from his usual financial strategy, chairman Daniel Levy is willing to cut his losses and fund the 31-year-old’s exit, according to the Independent.

Spurs will have to pay a percentage of the forward’s £5.2m annual salary should he make a move, but could possibly remain at White Hart Lane until his contract is set to expire in June 2016.

That amount is expected to be £2.5m, an amount Spurs are happy to pay if he finds a suitable club.
