Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly set to reject a move to Arsenal and Manchester City this summer, and looks to sign for Manchester United, according to reports.

It has been reported that United are expected to swoop up the Dortmund star after claims this week show he is being targeted as a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.

The news follows the reports of Manchester City and Arsenal to have held concrete talks with the German club over the midfielder, who’s contract is set to expire next year.

It is believed that the Bundesliga side do not want Gundogan to follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp out the exit door and have offered the 24-year-old a contract extension until 2019 – although he has so far failed to put pen to paper for a new deal.

Louis van Gaal’s United side are currently third in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 65 points, one point behind Arsenal in second.
