Arsenal have agreed a £21.5m fee for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to O Jogo.
The Portuguese defensive midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal strongly linked.
And, whilst the former are now believed to be softening their interest, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made significant moves in recent weeks to agree a transfer fee.
The 22-year-old had been hit with a asking price of £30m, but after some strong negotiations, the Frenchman has agreed to lower that fee by £8.5m.
Some reports have claimed that the deal could see Carvalho stay in Portugal with Sporting for a one year loan spell.
