Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has recently admitted that he still regrets how Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2011 ahead of the clash with the midfielders current club Chelsea, taking place on Sunday.

Fabregas made his exit from the Emirates to re-join boyhood club Barcelona four years ago before making his return to England to play for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side last summer.

The Spain international has had a successful time with his return to the Premier League, and will line-up against Arsenal when the Blues travel to north London this weekend – a fixture Wenger has admitted he finds hard thinking about.

“The regret I have is that he wanted to leave here. This club and myself had a very positive influence on Cesc’s life,” the Arsenal manager said.

“I want every player to be respected and [I want] Cesc Fabregas, when he comes to the Emirates on Sunday, to be respected like he deserves.”

Arsenal are currently second in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 66 points, with Chelsea top of the table on 76 points.
