West Ham have been reported to have opened transfer talks with Sampdoria over midfielder Pedro Obiang.

Sport Italia have reported West Ham have offered £4.5m plus clauses for the box-to-box midfielder, who has previously been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City.

The website reports that Sampdoria want a figure in the region of £7m for the 23-year-old but a deal is likely to go through.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce will be looking to replace midfielder Alex Song, who now looks unlikely to sign a permanent deal from Barcelona.

Obiang has scored three goals in 27 Serie A appearances this season and won two caps for Spain U21s.

Sam Allardyce’s West Ham side are currently tenth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 43 points, one point ahead of Crystal Palace in eleventh.
