Manchester City have been reported to put forward a transfer bid of £33m for Porto star Yacine Brahimi.

City will be looking to land the playmaker as they prepare to reform their squad in time for next season, according to L’Equipe.

The 25-year-old won’t come cheap as the Algerian has a £33m release clause within his contract and City look to use that to their advantage as they look to jump ahead of competition.

The Gunners had previously been linked to be the front-runners to land the African player of the year but City’s financial capability may cause them to come out on top.

Manuel Pellegrini’s City side are currently fourth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 64 points, with Arsenal in second on 66 points.
