AC Milan have told Chelsea that they would like to keep Marco van Ginkel on loan for one more season.
The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with Milan but has struggled to make an impact at San Siro.
The Dutchman was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge last summer and was sent to Milan in the hope that the Serie A side would complete a permanent move this year.
Reports earlier this year had claimed that Milan officials were not keen on keeping the youngster beyond his current loan spell.
However, it has now been claimed by Gazzetta dello Sport that the Serie A club want the Dutchman for an extra season.
Van Ginkel has made 11 appearances for Filippo Inzaghi’s side this season.
