Man United target Koke signs new Atletico deal

Koke

Manchester United target Koke has ended any talk of a transfer by signing a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

New United boss Louis van Gaal indicated Spanish international midfielder Koke as a potential summer signing as he looks to rebuild a title winning squad at Old Trafford but any such deal has now been made more unlikely after he agreed a deal to remain at the Vicente Calderon.

Koke, who was part of Spain’s World Cup side returned home after being knocked out in the Group stages and has put pen-to-paper on a brand new deal, which will see him play at the club until 2019 and include a significant release clause increase.

Meanwhile, Spanish full-back Juanfran has also signed a new deal which will double his salary, ending interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

“I am excited to continue growing with the club and happy to continue with my club,” Koke is quoted as saying in Spanish daily AS.

“Everybody knows how I feel about playing here and wearing this shirt. Since I was a child I’ve wanted to succeed here and now I am doing that. How could I not continue?”
