Newcastle United are keen to make a loan move for Manchester United striker James Wilson, according to Daily Star.

The England U20 striker is highly regarded as one of the top upcoming youngsters in English football at present but he has found playing time hard to come by under United boss Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch boss is keen to bolster his attacking options this summer and will look to send Wilson out on loan to gain further experience.

Newcastle are aware of the situation, despite their current on and off field problems, which have seen the club’s fans call for a new owner and new manager.

Former Old Trafford assistant boss Steve McClaren is expected to take the hot seat at St James Park and he is a keen admirer of the 19-year-old striker.
