Manchester United are keen to pursue a summer move of £25m for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to various reports.
The Belgian striker has had a hit and miss season at Villa this season due to injury problems but a return to form in recent weeks, matched with a goal in Sunday’s FA Cup win over Liverpool at Wembley, has seen the likes of United show interest.
United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to test Villa’s resolve on the striker and bolster his attacking options for next season, before which he will see both Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie leave the club.
Falcao has failed to impress at Old Trafford and is likely to return to parent club Monaco, whilst Van Persie has been made available for transfer by his Dutch compatriot.
Benteke is seen as the perfect option for United and a £25m bid is expected to be made to Villa over the summer months.
