Arsenal target Georginio Wijnaldum has shown his desire to link up with former national team boss Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

Wijnaldum has made comments on his plans to move to a bigger league to challenge himself, with Arsenal one of the clubs that have shown interest.

But having previously worked with United boss Louis van Gaal in the Dutch national team, the PSV midfielder admitted it’s a partnership he wishes to re-establish.

“Of course I would like to work with him [Van Gaal] again,” he said.

“He is a good trainer, and makes players better. I work really fine with him and he is a great man.

“He gave me a chance and opportunity to play in a World Cup after seven months out injured, and I am thankful for that. He helped me get my confidence back.”

Manchester United are currently third in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 65 points, one point behind Arsenal in second.
