French striker to reject Liverpool and Newcastle United

Alexandre Lacazette will reject any such move to Liverpool and Newcastle United as a new contract with Lyon seems likely.

The French striker has scored 25 goals in Ligue 1 this season and has attracted the likes of many on-looking European sides, who have all enquired as to his current asking price, reportedly set at around £20m.

Liverpool and Newcastle have led interest, whilst a lucrative move to Qatar has also been mentioned in the French press.

However, any such interest has been quashed by the French striker, who has now reiterated his desire to remain in Ligue 1 club Lyon.

“It is too early to speak about opportunities of leaving abroad. In any case, it will be a footballing decision,” Lacazette told Le Progres. “To go to Qatar next season, that doesn’t interest me. I would like to sign a contract extension.

“I am good at Lyon, and if I feel that the project will continue advance, I can see myself staying. Even if we don’t win the Champions League.”
