Arsenal should avoid trying to sign Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin to replace up and coming Arsenal star Francis Coquelin.

The young Arsenal Frenchman has played a key role this season for Arsenal being dubbed the next Patrick Vieira. Coquelin has very much been a big part of Arsenal’s recent record breaking 8 win streak but Wenger could seek other options in the summer with Schneiderlin being on his shortlist.

Former Arsenal defender Frank McLintock believes that, ” Coquelin has been extremely good this campaign. They’ve been linked with Schneiderlin at Southampton. He’s got height, something Arsenal have been lacking because they’ve been a small team for a long time.”

“So someone of that calibre would be a good thing.”

“But it would be a shame if he were to replace Coquelin, he’s come on a bundle in the last month or so. That’s because he has the opportunity to play regularly and he’s taken on the task very well.”

Wenger will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer but Mclintock doesn’t want Arsenal to find a replacement in Schneiderlin for defensive midfielder Coquelin any time soon.
