Arsenal set to complete sensational £40m transfer for Colombian striker

Arsenal may be set to complete a £40m transfer for Jackson Martinez following the news of the Colombian being set to leave Porto this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will keen to add to his attacking options ahead of next season as they plan to challenge for the Premier League title.

And Porto star Jackson Martinez appears a top transfer target after the striker told Colombian newspaper El Espectador that he will leave the club following three-years of service.

He said: “I have made it clear that my departure to a new club will surely happen next summer.

“Right now, I only focus on doing my job with Porto, but I’m ready to take the leap in the next window.”

The 28-year-old has also attracted attention from Premier League rivals Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United and will have to compete to complete a deal.

Arsenal are currently second in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 66 points, one point ahead of Manchester United in third.
