Southampton have been handed a boost to complete the transfer of Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena this summer after he reportedly decided he no longer wants to be at the club, reports Voetbal International.

Vilhena has been deemed one of Feyenoord’s most exciting prospects, and has progressed through a turbulent season while there had been vast speculation over his future.

And the Saints are looking to take hold of the opportunity following the news that the midfielder will not be signing a contract extension with the Dutch club.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is known to be a fan of the youngster having previously worked with the 20-year-old at Feyenoord, and it has been suggested he could offer him a £5m deal to get the midfielder out of his contract a year early.

Southampton are currently sixth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 56 points, one point behind Liverpool in fifth.
