Liverpool look likely to sign Memphis Depay after making an offer to bring him to Anfield, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been given the green light to leave current club PSV in the summer, which has also grabbed the attention of Manchester United.

United had been suggested to be the front-runners to sign the PSV winger, but now it is reported Liverpool have made a bid in excess of £18m and are hopeful to complete a deal.

United boss Louis van Gaal is believed to have put forward an offer, but the Reds are prepared to boost their bid to £23.7m in order to land the winger.

Depay is likely to have a bright future ahead of him and the Reds will benefit from such fresh talent with contract rebel Raheem Sterling looking likely to leave.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 57 points, one point ahead of Southampton in sixth.
