Football Express News understands that Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez has held positive talks through his agent with Liverpool.

Sanchez has been one of the stand out players at the 2014 World Cup this summer, following his impressive statistics for Barcelona last season, which saw him finish second in terms of goalscoring to only Lionel Messi.

The Chilean winger is still wanted by Barcelona fans but his future remains a doubt as new boss Luis Enrique has given no clear indication over who he wants to forge an attacking partnership with Messi next season.

Arsenal have been attracted to the former Udinese man, whilst Juventus are also keen but discussions between Sanchez’s agent and Liverpool are understood to have taken place in the last few days.

The talks follow a possible bid from Barcelona for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who is edging closer to a summer exit from Liverpool after another unsavoury incident for his country at the World Cup.

Barcelona remain keen and are said to be keen on submitting a bid that would include Alexis Sanchez or Pedro Rodriguez, but the latter wants to hold talks with the Catalan club first before discussing a move to Anfield.

Alexis will be in action for Chile at the weekend as they face Brazil in the next round of the tournament.
