Liverpool keen on Arsenal defender Jenkinson

Liverpool are ready to make a summer move for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson.

The 23-year-old full-back is currently on loan with West Ham United and has largely impressed under the guidance of Sam Allardyce.

Having signed for Arsenal back in 2011, Jenkinson originally featured for the Gunners and forced his way in Roy Hodgson’s England side, making his debut in 2012 against Sweden.

However, following the summer signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United, the former Charlton Athletic defender was loaned across London to Upton Park.

Jenkinson has a contract at Arsenal until 2018 but both West Ham and Liverpool are now set to do battle over a £10m summer move.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is keen for the youngster to replace Glen Johnson, who will leave on a free transfer this summer.
