Arsenal are reportedly lining up a deal for Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez in a summer transfer, according to the Telegraph.
Gomez has now picked up 17 appearances in the Championship this season and looks to be one of the finest young players in the country.
The 17-year-old has also attracted attention from other Premier League clubs such as Everton and Newcastle United, but now it appears Arsenal are the front runners after scouts were left impressed with what they have seen.
A very versatile centre-back, Gomez is an England youth international as has had comparisons with Rio Ferdinand for his passing range and tough tackling.
Arsenal are currently second in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 63 points, one point ahead of Manchester United in third.
