Having been linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira in the past, Arsenal have gone relatively silent on such reports, despite the German being available on a free transfer this summer.
Khedira has struggled in recent times after a string of niggling injury problems, having contributed heavily to his omission from the Real Madrid starting eleven, seeing the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric hold down their starting places.
The former Stuttgart midfielder has been linked with a number of Premier League sides, but should he join Arsenal then Arsene Wenger will have a superb spine to his team of German internationals.
Defender Per Mertesacker has been heavily criticised this summer but with the added quality of Khedira in midfield, sitting just ahead of the centre-back as a covering defender/midfielder; he could shine.
Mesut Ozil would also gain from Khedira’s signing, whilst Wenger himself would get a guaranteed and reliable midfielder.
Question marks continue to be raised over his injury problems, but being available on a free transfer is massive help.
