Arsenal are leading the race to sign highly-rated Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez, according to various reports.
The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the most impressive defenders in the Championship after a string of solid displays for Charlton this season, where he has made 17 first team appearances.
Interest from a number of Premier League sides has since been made aware with Everton and Newcastle United toying with the idea of a summer move.
However, it is now understood that Arsenal are keen to push for a move and complete his signature.
Gomez’s contract at The Valley expires in 2017.
