Arsenal set to launch shock bid for Real Madrid defender

Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to sign Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa, reports FootballFanCast.

The former Liverpool superstar is set to leave his current club Real Madrid at the end of the season, and is looking for a move back to England.

And according to reports Arsenal have put forward an offer to sign him, however they will be going up against Liverpool and Napoli who are also looking to secure his services.

The 32-year-old will offer a vast amount of experience and will only cost a fee on the region of £3.6m to sign.

A right-back by trade, Arbeloa can also find himself play left-back or centre-back, as well as in midfield.

Arsenal are currently second in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 63 points, one point ahead of Manchester United in third.
